Family Portrait in an Empty House

As I push open the door,
Walk in to a place, I once knew,
A house I called home.
As I walk along,
Through the cracked walls and broken windows,
Flashes of memory
Happiest moments of my life
That’s what left of it.
Everyone’s around
The cosy sofa
Talking and laughing
Making fun with each other’s jokes.
On the wall hanging was
My family portrait
Smiles and happy faces
As tears rolled down
That’s when I realized it’s all over
Family portrait in an empty house
Will this ever be the end of it all?
An end to a happy beginning?
Will love bind us all
Once again as a family...
